BNP secretary-general Khondakar Delwar Hossain said yesterday that the government’s announcement to withdraw troops from the Chittagong Hill Tracts ( CHT) would jeopardise the country’s security.
Terming the government’s move ‘motivated’ he said, BNP is against withdrawal of the army troops from the CHT in national interest.
“We are not in favour of withdrawal of the army from CHT. Peace and stability are yet to be restored in the hill districts,” he said at a function to mark the fourth death anniversary of journalist Sheikh Nurul Islam at the National Press Club yesterday. [Read more]
