Bangladesh gets record WB aid $1,096m in ‘08-09

Bangladesh received a record World Bank’s assistance of 1,096 million US dollars in the 2008-09 fiscal year to implements its different development programmes.
The World Bank programmes in Bangladesh currently supports a total of 26 projects.
Some of the programmes aim at solving food crisis, increasing reliable energy, improving water and sanitation services, supporting secondary and higher education, combating pollution, expanding social safety nets and tackling the after effects of natural disasters, according to a World Bank press release from Dhaka.
