Awami League MP Engineer Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was allegedly assaulted by a party leader during the party’s meeting at local pourashava auditorium Saturday.
Witnesses said district AL publicity secretary Shahidul Islam turned violent and hurled abusive words at Mujibur Rahman, also district AL president, while the meeting was on in the morning.
Party activists took Shahidul out of the venue apparently in a bid to calm the situation.
Local sources said the AL leader swooped on the party’s lawmaker as the latter ignored his request to transfer a police official following an untoward incident. [Read more]
