Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday strongly criticised extra-constitutional government as she said military rulers in many countries have given corruption institutional shape.
In her reply to a supplementary question from Golam Dastagir Gazi (Narayanganj-1) in Parliament, she said military rulers always try to cling to power by allowing a particular section of people to roll in massive corruption.
“But without democracy corruption cannot be rooted out from society as democracy ensures accountability in every sphere of life,” she told the lawmakers, who got elected to the ninth Parliament after the lapse of two years for state of emergency following the 1/11 changeover. [Read more]
