Over 100 Bangladesh Chattra League central committee leaders resigned en masse yesterday, said a BCL leader, a day after Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina withdrew as organisational head of the AL-backed student body.

Assistant secretary Siddiqui Nazmul Hossain told bdnews24.com around 10pm: “The leaders submitted their resignations to the BCL president in one single letter, signed by all.”

He was speaking as the central leaders were holding an emergency meeting, following Awami League’s decision on Saturday for party chief Sheikh Hasina to remove herself as nominal head of the student body. [Read more]
