The immigration authority yesterday barred former Information Minister and BNP leader M Shamsul Islam from leaving the country.
The former minister was scheduled to fly for Bangkok by an aircraft of the Thai Airways at about 1:40 pm for medical treatment.
When contacted over cell-phone, Islam told UNB that the Officer-in-Charge (Immigration) debarred him from talking the flight saying that ‘there have been restrictions imposed on your foreign travel at the instruction of higher authority’.
“Earlier I went out abroad during the caretaker government, but nobody did bar me,” he said. [Read more]
