President Zillur Rahman yesterday paid rich tributes to the martyred intellectuals by placing floral wreaths at the Graveyard of Martyred Intellectuals at Mirpur.
This is the first visit of Zillur Rahman to the Graveyard of Martyred Intellectuals after taking oath as the president.
After placing wreath, he stood in solemn silence there for some time as he bugle played the last post. Zillur Rahman also offered Fateha for eternal peace of the departed souls of martyred intellectuals, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country and the nation at the fag end of the War of Liberation in 1971 and termed them as the best son of the soil.
