The Supreme Court yesterday asked the Election Commission (EC) to accept the candidature of Kazi Zafar Ahmed of Jatiya Party for contesting the December 29 parliamentary elections.
The court also asked the EC to accept the candidatures of Abdus Sobhan for Barisal-1 and Abdul Gafur of BNP for Comilla-10.
Chamber Judge M Joynul Abedin passed the orders following separate petitions filed against the High Court orders that had upheld the EC decisions cancelling the candidatures of the petitioners. [Read more]
