The central government of India has given a go ahead for the construction of the proposed Tipaimukh dam across river Borak in the Manipur state on the east of the Sylhet region of bangladesh, according to information received in Dhaka.
River Borak divides into two distributaries - Surma and Kushiara - before crossing the border into Bangladesh and combine to form the Meghna.
The Tipaimukh Project envisages construction of 162.8 h high rockfill dam at about 500 m downstream of the confluence of river Barak with Tuivai. [Read more]
