The government is mulling over to implementing stringent laws against the sale of any child food products as alternative to breast milk amid a number of reports published in different dailies of sale of melamine tainted Chinese powder milk in Bangladesh.
Health and Food Adviser Dr AMM Showkat Ali yesterday told this at a press briefing at his ministry proposed amendments to the Breast Milk Substitutes (Regulations of Market) Ordinance 1984 to increase the jail term from 2 years to 5 years for repeating an offence with fine of Tk 100,000.
