Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr ATM Shamsul Huda has termed the announcement of election date by Chief Adviser of Caretaker Government Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed as “the political part,” which is “not unlawful”.

“The Chief Adviser did not announce the election schedule, which is our part,” the CEC told the New Nation soon after the CA’s largely telecast address to the nation.
“The Chief Adviser did not do it without consultation with the Commission. He (CA) held three rounds of talks with us before announcing the election date,” the CEC added. [Read more]
