The government wants to release former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, even though she refused to apply for her freedom, to make the ensuing general elections meaningful one.
Adviser for Commerce and Education Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman made this comment yesterday while talking to reporters following a meeting with US Ambassador in Dhaka James F Moriarty at the Ministry of Education.
“We want a free and fair election, and a qualitative change. That’s why the issue of her (Khaleda) release is important,” he said. [Read more]
