The government yesterday denied that the special drive launched on June 28 across the country was aimed at political parties or harassing the politicians.
Home Ministry press release said the drive was aimed to check the rising trend of terrorist attack on police and snatching away arms, unrest in garments sector, secret killing, mugging and terrorist activities.
Clarifying the situation in view of media report it said 548 people were arrested across the country in 24 hours since the drive was launched on May 28. [Read more]
