High-rises to dot city skyline despite threat to aviation

The Government appears to be reneging from taking action against high-rise buildings that pose a threat to incoming and outgoing aircraft to and from Dhaka Tejgaon Airport, said official sources.
The number of such buildings has already crossed 300 from 111 in 2005, he mentioned.
In mid-August 2007, RAJUK issued notices to the owners of 142 buildings, including 45 high rises, to dismantle the buildings on their own, but the authorities later suspended the notice, considering the economic impact of the move, till the submission of the survey committee review report, said the officials.
