Responding to the soaring food crisis in 3rd world countries, including Bangladesh, US President George W. Bush has ordered the release of $200 million in emergency aid.
The money, to be drawn from a food reserve, will ad suffering with soaring price hike, the White House said.
The announcement follows an appeal to the international community by World Bank President Robert Zoellick.
The international community must fill that at least a $500 million food gap identified by the UN’s World Food Program to meet emergency needs, said WB President. [Read more]
