Adviser for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs AF Hassan Ariff yesterday stressed the need for lifting or easing the state of emergency for holding free, fair and credible elections with the participation of the people.
The Government is considering the relaxation of the emergency, he said without the exact time limit for that.
He, however, said holding of the election was also possible under the state of emergency, as there was no law that the polls could not be held during emergency. [Read more]
