Police Thursday demolished illegal structures on 465 plots on 86 acres of land at the Ainuddin & Raizunnesa Bibi Wakf Estate at Doaripara in city’s Pallabi area following a Supreme Court order.
Police said some 600 law-enforcers led by magistrate Azharul Islam began the eviction drive against illegal occupiers at about 9am. The drive affected some 50,000 people.
A case was pending in court following dispute over ownership of the plots between National Housing Authority and Ainuddin & Raizunnesa Bibi Wakf Estate. [Read more]
