The government plans to sign a contract for a 330-450 megawatt gas-based power plant at Bibiyana by the end of July this year as the plant is expected to go into operation in 2011.
Md Abdul Jalil, Director General of Power Cell, a wing of the Power Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, announced the government plan at a briefing at the Bidyut Bhaban in the city.
After signing the contract, he said, it would take three years to implement the project. The plant is expected to be commissioned in 2011. [Read more]
