In the context of yesterday’s High Court judgment declaring illegal the inclusion of an extortion case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the (EPR), the fate of the same type of other cases has become uncertain.
A HC Division bench, comprising Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman and Justice Shahidul Islam gave the verdict yesterday declaring the trial of the extortion case against Sheikh Hasina under the EPR as illegal.
In the judgement, the HC bench also quashed the extortion case of Tk 3 crore filed by businessman Azam J Chowdhury. [Read more]
