The Election Commission has drafted a proposal for an amendment to the existing law to hold all the city-corporation elections simultaneously within 180 days before the expiry of their tenures.
As per the proposal, candidates of the local government body elections would have to disclose seven-point information during submitting their nomination paper and candidates of parliamentary elections would have to furnish eight-point information, as verdict of the Supreme Court.
The draft would be forwarded to the Government soon for enacting a comprehensive law amending the existing ones immediately. [Read more]
