Rice prices fall in wholesale, retail markets as supply rises: Govt to sell 45,000 MT of rice at Tk 25 a kg this month

With continuous flow of rice from India, retail price came down by Tk 1 per kg in the city markets yesterday.
On the other hand, the government has decided to sell 45,000 metric tonnes of rice at Tk 25 per kg this month (January) through countrywide rationing by 1,990 dealers and paramilitary BDR personnel, by making necessary import of the staple urgently.
Besides, Vietnam has expressed the willingness to sell rice to Bangladesh. [Read more]
