Int’l cooperation sought to cope with rice crisis

The government yesterday sought international cooperation to cope with the ongoing crisis of rice in the country.
As part of it, Foreign Adviser Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury yesterday invited the Ambassador of Thailand and representatives of World Food Programme (WFP), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and UNDP at his office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the city.
The Foreign Adviser held separate meetings with the Thailand’s Ambassador and the representatives of the UN agencies.
During the talks, the Ambassador of Thailand agreed to sell one lakh metric ton of rice to Bangladesh. [Read more]
