Members of the Non-Resident Bangladeshi (NRB) urged for diplomatic support from the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) to enact the New Partnership for Development Act -2007 (NPDA), which is under process in US Congress.
US Congressman Jim McDermott formally proposed the bill, which is likely to help Bangladesh with a partial duty free access for a number of products, including Readymade Garments (RMGs), in exports to the US, said members of the NBR.
“But a group of pro-African lobby is strongly opposing the bill, which needs to be diplomatically tackled by the Bangladesh government,” they expressed. [Read more]
