As many as 27 pieces of the two 1,500-year-old stolen black and white statues of Hindu god Vishnu were retrieved from a garbage dumping ground near Aminbazar in Savar yesterday.
Under the supervision of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-1, some 150 conservancy workers of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) and Fire Service and Civil Defence retrieved 27 broken pieces of the two statues-one black and another white–from Boliapur garbage dumping ground, adjacent to the eastern side of Modhumoti Model Town and beside the Dhaka-Aricha highway after carrying out searches in the garbage yesterday morning.
