A High Court Division Bench of the Supreme Court yesterday granted bail to Tarique Rahman and his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko, the two sons of imprisoned former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, in separate extortion cases.
Passing the orders following separate petitions, the High Court Division Bench comprising Justice Shah Abu Nayeen Mominur Rahman and Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury also stayed the proceedings of the cases.
The High Court Bench also issued rule upon the Government to show cause why placing the case under the Emergency Power Rules (EPR) “should not be declared illegal”. [Read more]
