Individual taxpayers have paid the government Tk 739 crore in the income tax return submitted for the assessment year 2007-08 by Sunday deadline.
Sources at the National Board of Revenue said this years earning is about three times higher than the previous fiscal year’s Tk 252 crore. The number of tax returns also increased substantially to 6,45,617 from the last year’s 5,35,994.
“A huge number of taxpayers submitted returns and the amount of tax is three times higher than the previous year,” NBR chairman Muhammad
Abdul Majid told a press briefing at the NBR conference room, expressing satisfaction over the response. [Read more]
