At least three people died and more than 200 were injured in a bridge collapse at Kalapara, about 70km south of Patuakhali district headquarter, when some 400 cyclone victims were stampeding for relief yesterday afternoon.
Khalilur Rahman Howlader, 40, a rickshawpuller and son of Abdul Hamid Howlader of village Gandhapara under Chakmaiya union, died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries later. They were identified as Delwar Hossain, 30, Sumon, 13, and Zakir Hossain, 35. [Read more]
