WB extends $250m to aid cyclone recovery

The World Bank has offered up to US 250 dollars in the aftermath of the super cyclone Sidr to help millions of survivors to recover and strengthen the country’s disaster mitigation systems.
Disclosing this yesterday, World Bank (WB) Country Director Xian Zhu said, “This is a horrible shock to Bangladesh and our sympathies are with the thousands of families who have lost loved ones, with the millions who have lost livelihoods and shelter.”
He said, “The WB is willing to make up to US 250 million dollars available to the Bangladesh government, depending on its financing needs and what other donors brought to the table. [Read more]
