Thousands visit Zia’s mazar to pay homage: BNP factions locked in graveside clashes

Rivalry between the two factions of BNP marred the commemoration programme of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day yesterday, when activists of its anti-reform faction chased senior leaders of the reformist faction near Chandrima Udyan in the capital.
Senior reformist leaders-BNP Standing Committee member Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman was assaulted and BNP Advisory Council member Maj Gen (retd) Z. A Khan was chased by its anti-reformist groups. Police arrested three activists from the spot, as supporters of both the groups locked in street battles. [Read more]
