HC issues rule upon NBR on Khaleda’s writ

The High Court yesterday issued a rule upon the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to explain why its refusal to accept detained former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s tax on undeclared income will not be declared illegal.
A division bench, comprising Justice MA Rashid and Justice Miftah Uddin Chowdhury, issued the rule following a writ petition filed by Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon filed the writ petition on behalf of Khaleda Zia on Monday.
The rule was issued against five officials, including the chairman of the NBR.
“The rule is made returnable in 15 days,” says the court order. [Read more]
