TI global chief in Dhaka : Fund for electioneering must be transparent: Truth commission can play a positive role in curbing corruption

The Chairman of Board of Directors of Transparency International Dr Huguette Labelle said the voter list for the next general election in Bangladesh and expenses of the candidates would have to be transparent.
“Parliament is the highest place from which a country is run. For this reason, if the parliament members are not honest then corruption cannot be eliminated. I would like to urge the government to make the voter list fairly and ensure transparency of financing of the candidates,” she said this as a keynote speaker at a seminar in the city yesterday.
