A Special Court in Dhaka on Wednesday awarded eight years’ imprisonment to Mahbuba Sultana, wife of Musaddek Ali Falu, former lawmaker and political secretary to former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, for concealing information about her assets and evading tax.
Judge of the Special Court Firoz Alam handed down the verdict in absentia of the accused after examining nine evidences and relevant documents. In the verdict, the judge mentioned that she had concealed the information about her acquired assets and evaded tax amounting to Taka 1.58 crore. [Read more]
