Legal experts, politicians, educationists, indigenous leaders and representatives from the civil society urged the Government to give the constitutional recognition of the indigenous people.
They also urged the government to ensure their land rights and give them opportunity to read in their mother languages in the primary education level.
The government has failed to recognise the indigenous communities living in Bangladesh. These communities were considered as tribe in Bangladesh. This is a negative expression, they said. [Read more]
