The amount of default loans in the country’s banking system has stood at Tk 46,490 crore till June 30 this year, sources at Bangladesh Bank said.
Sources said the volume of default loans was Tk 21,223 crore at the end of March 31, 2007. Within a span of three months the amount of default loans increased by Tk 25,267 crore.
Statistics available with the central bank shows that the amount of default loans was Tk 20,098 crore on December 31, 2006.
Between January and March this year the amount of default loans increased by Tk 1,225 crore. [Read more]
