Tax burden threatens solar energy with collapse

A recent decision of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to impose five per cent tax on solar panels, an extremely promising alternative and renewable energy source, threatens the expansion of popular home solar systems, informed sources tell The New Nation.
Because of official patronisation this renewable energy technology which was litle known even in the early 1990s made substantial progress during the last 16 years. About 150,000 solar systems have been installed all over the country during this period, the sources say. [Read more]
