Govt seeks US$ 150m from donors to meet flood losses: Call for urgent food aid

The Government yesterday formally sought donors’ assistance to the tune of US$ 150 million or Tk 1,050, with special emphasis on food-aid, to face the aftermath of the floods, ERD Secretary Aminul Islam Bhuiyan said this after a meeting with the Local Consultative Group (LCG) of the donors.
“With a view to cope with the deluge aftermath the Government was compelled to shift budgetary allocation, 0.8 percent of GDP, to flood rehabilitation,” he said justifying the call for the donors’ assistance. [Read more]
