Fresh flooding looms for heavy rainfall: Respiratory, skin, eye diseases spreading fast

Padma takes serious turn in Faridpur. Hundreds of homesteads, bazaars, schools and shops in some 13 villages of Aliabad in Sadar upazila and Char Bhadrasan upazila have already been devoured by dangerous Padma making thousands of people homeless. Erosion has been increasing with the receding of floodwaters. Water in 16 rivers, including four major rivers in Kurigram has been rising at an alarming rate due to heavy rains and hilly water coming from the Indian upstream. In Kurigram, water level has increased by 16cm at Dharla ferryghat point, 21cm at Teesta-Kaunia point and 14cm at Brahmaputra-Noonkhawa-Chilmari point in the last 24 hours. [Read more]
