Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed on Tuesday said steps have already been taken to withdraw import duty on some essentials, including rice, pulses and edible oil, besides import of eight lakh tonnes of rice by the public sector.
The Chief Adviser also said the government would import some essentials to keep prices of those items at a tolerable level during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
He said this while exchanging views with members of various professional bodies, local elite and district level government officials in the auditorium of Nawab Sirajdowla Government College at the town. [Read more]
