Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed yesterday asked the financial institutions to provide collateral free loan to the farmers on soft terms in order to strengthen post-flood agricultural rehabilitation.
He said the loan should be disbursed speedily so that increase of agri-production can be ensured. Otherwise, commodity prices and inflation cannot be checked and even it may shoot up further, he added.
Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said this while talking to journalists after a meeting with the chief executives of non-bank financial institutions at Bangladesh Bank’s (central bank) conference room. [Read more]
