The risk of cylinder explosion of CNG-run vehicles has been increasing in the city everyday due to lack of proper monitoring by the government agencies.
Many transport owners are using either substandard cylinders or non-CNG cylinders in converting their diesel-run buses and other vehicles into the CNG-powered ones.
Accidents with multiple losses might occur anytime from the explosions during the refilling CNG at filling stations. Such non-CNG cylinder explosions have already caused several accidents, said an explosive official of the Bangladesh Roads and Transport Authority (BRTA). [Read more]
