Most of the areas within and outside the Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) embankment went under waist-deep water.
Though the flood waters entered the ground floor of all the residential houses in the DND area, but it could not cause any damage in the DND dam till yesterday.
Most of time of a year, about eight lakh people who are living in the DND area, have to pass under water due to lack of proper drainage system. As a result, when it rains, water can not be drained out from that areas. At present, flood waters enter the Dhaka city and residents of the DND dam areas are passing subhuman life. [Read more]
