The prices of most essential commodities including rice, vegetables, chilli, and onion marked sharp rise in the city markets due to insufficient supply and worsening flood situation in the country.
In the city’s markets, green chilli was sold between Tk 140 and Tk 150 per kg in the wholesale markets, while in the retail markets it was sold at Tk 200 per kg. Therefore, dried chilli was sold Tk 250 per kg in the city markets.
In the city’s wholesale markets, coarse rice was sold at Tk 23 per kg, while beter quality ‘najir shail’ rice was sold between Tk 26 and Tk 28 per kg last week. [Read more]
