During the first five months of the current calendar year, the Dhaka metropolitan area has got 9,263 new private cars.
Statistics available with the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) revealed the information.
It also showed that number of newly registered cars across the country stood at 10,436 during January-May period of the current calendar year.
Thus, total number of registered private car in whole Bangladesh stood at 318,977 at the end of May this year of which 250,485 cars are registered in Dhaka.
In the past year, some 20,304 new cars were registered with the BRTA in whole Bangladesh of which 18,010 registered in Dhaka.
Thus, private car is heavily concentrated in Dhaka.
