\’Country achieves laudable success in ensuring hygienic sanitation facilities\’

RANGPUR, Oct 25 (BSS): The country has achieved laudable success in ensuring hygienic sanitation facilities to improve life standard of rural people reducing water borne diseases and related deaths during the past eight years.
The observations came at a post-rally discussion arranged in observance of the National Sanitation Campaign October-2016 and World Hand Washing Day-2016 at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner on Monday.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest .
The divisional and district administrations with Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) and NGO Forum organised the discussion followed by demonstration of hand-washing process for the school students.
With Divisional Director of Local Government Mominul Islam in the chair, Additional Divisional Commissioners Minu Sheel (General) and Abdul Mazid (Revenue), Additional DIG Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Ahad Ali addressed the discussion as the special guests.
Superintending Engineer of the DPHE for Rangpur Circle Delwar Hossain delivered welcome speech while its Executive Engineer for Rangpur Yasin Arafat discussed on the sanitation situation in Rangpur division.
The speakers highly appreciated remarkable improvement in the rural life standard following success achieved in sanitation, pure drinking water and healthcare services to maintain clean environment and good hygienic condition.
Dr Ahad Ali said the government's sanitation campaign has already created a social renaissance in recent years reducing recurrence of water-borne diseases like diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, hookworm and ringworm among rural people to the minimum.
The chief guest called upon all concerned for coordinated GO-NGO efforts to create public awareness on health, hygiene, sanitation, personal hygiene, using safe drinking water for achieving cent per cent hygienic sanitation coverage in the division. [Read More]
