Shootings, blasts at Gulshan restaurant

Shootings and explosions have been reported at a restaurant at Gulshan in Dhaka.
The firing started around 8:45pm.
It is being suspected that some people were being held hostage at the Spanish restaurant, known as the Holey Artisan Bakery.
Eyewitnesses said a group of eight to nine people, aged below 30, entered the restaurant and started the firing shouting ‘Allahu – Akbar’. This indicates that the attack is made by a militant group.
At least four injured police officials were seen being taken to a nearby hospital, one in critical condition.
RAB and police said that the captives are supposedly safe, although no demand have been made.
Hundred of law enforcers are surrounding the building and the area has been cordoned off.
The incident was still continuing till the filing of this report.
RAB chief Benzir Ahmed said they are trying to bring the situation under control. - IH
