Schools can reschedule shifts

Schools and madrasas in Bangladesh can reschedule their shifts if need due to the hot spell that is sweeping the country for the last several days.

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education issued a directive in this regard on Friday.

Drought-like conditions have developed in a large part of Bangladesh, with an average 40 degrees Celsius temperature for the last couples of days and absence of rainfall for a long time, says Met Office.

Meteorologists forecast that dry weather may prevail over different divisions for the next 12 hours.

The weather office has recorded the season’s highest temperature at 41.2 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi.

It says the mercury level remains above 40 degrees in most of the days in the last two weeks, according to a news agency. -bz
