The Islamic Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer and Charmonai Peer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rejaul Karim on Wednesday urged the government to amend 29 sections of the National Women Development Policy (NWDP) -2011 as those contradicted with the Quran and the Sunnah.

Briefing the newsmen at IAB central office in the capital’s Purana Paltan area, Rejaul Karim has threatened to launch a tough movement against the Awami League-led grand alliance Government if it doesn’t amend anti-Islamic sections of the women policy and in the Constitution as well. He, however, underscored the need for a national policy for women folk and mentioned that some 29 sections of the NWDP were controversial and anti-Islamic.Referring to election-pledges of the grand alliance Government, he said, “AL earlier said that it would do nothing anti-Islamic. But assuming office, the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ignoring all those commitments by taking anti-Islamic steps one by one including NWDP, education policy and anti-fatwa acts.

“People of Bangladesh with 90 per cent Muslims have achieved its Independence through their supreme sacrifices in1971 and they will also do the same if necessary to save Islam and the Muslim ummah,” he warned the government adding, “if anything is included in the Constitution by breaching the directives of Quran and Sunnah, the government will have to face dire consequences in future.”

Charmoai Peer was also very critical of the education policy terming it a deep-rooted conspiracy of the vested quarters in the government who had been trying to misguide its high-ups and destroy the Bangla and the Islamic culture. [Read More]
