Village police in a shambles

Village Police personnel in the country have been passing their days with great miseries and financial constraints as their salaries are so meagre that they hardly could meet their families’ expenditures, sources said.
The Local Government Division, under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives, has recommended to the Ministry of Finance to enhance the salaries and emoluments of the ‘Dafadar’ and ‘Mahalladar’ both called as village police, an official of the concerned ministry told The New Nation yesterday.
