Extreme poor in five Monga hit districts have been facing ’silent monga’ during the last one month in absence of work and poor support programmes of the government here.
Visiting different upazilas in Kurigram and Rangpur, a group of newsmen witnessed that the extreme poor of these areas were passing their days half fed as they have no money to procure food items.
Bindu Bala (80), widow of Katalbari union in Kurigram Sadar told The New Nation that she along with her five members of the family were passing their days in extreme hardships. [Read more]
