The independent judiciary enters into the third year of its functioning today. The caretaker government on this day in 2007 separated judiciary from the executive.
Law adviser of the erstwhile caretaker government Barrister Mainul Hosein played the key role in implementing the long awaited demand of the nation, as successive political governments earlier had been pursuing a dilly dallying tactics regarding it.
On December 2, 1999, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court issued a 12-point directives for separation of the judiciary from the executive, giving a six-month time to implement it. [Read more]
